When metal fabric panels envelope buildings made of glass, metal, and other cladding, they help protect the interior space from direct sunlight and solar heat. By allowing solar heat onto the building in winter and screening it from solar radiation in summer, metal fabrics not only boost energy efficiency but also provide a comfortable environment for occupants.

In Luxembourg, the new music school, Korus - Centre musical et culturel Ă  PĂ©tange, is based on a design by SCHEMELWIRTZ ARCHITECTES ASSOCIES. At its heart is the concert hall, where the ceiling and wall materials were coordinated in consultation with a team of acousticians.

On the ceiling and rear wall of the concert hall, a customized version of GKD OMEGA 1540 mesh covers 83 panels and 332 square meters. The weft wire of the stainless steel mesh was coated in a gold color to give the ceiling surface a warm appearance.

Schwerin Castle in northern Germany is known as a stunning example of Romantic historicist architecture and as a picture-perfect fairytale castle. Its immensity allows for uses other than tourism, including a new corporate meeting room inside. For this project, GKD provided acoustic support to keep meetings private and separate from tourist traffic. The ceiling also offers an intricate lighting design to add to the bright and professional room.

Our work at the University of California San Diego's Mandeville Art Gallery was highlighted in Metropolis Magazine's September/October Issue!

Redesigned by Studio E Architects but originally designed by Southern California architect A. Quincy Jones, the Mandeville Art Gallery has been a fixture on campus since 1975. In the redesign, GKD Mediamesh was used to wrap the exterior facade to create a dynamic and eye-catching "front porch" for the museum.

Designed by Christian Bauer & Associates, the LuxConnect project uses Tigris metal mesh to both protect the building from heat and solar rays and to add architectural character to the modern building.

Tigris, a stainless steel open mesh with a 65% open area, mitigates heat on the building facade but stays virtually invisible from the inside, preserving views to the outside for occupants.
