Treated or untreated? Easy rule: if it touches the ground or gets wet, treat it.
Untreated lumber is for anything dry and covered. Wall framing, roof framing, interior work, trim.
Treated is pressure-treated to resist rot and insects. Posts, deck framing, sill plates, fences, anything sitting on concrete or in the dirt.
One thing that catches people: treated lumber is hard on plain and electroplated fasteners. Use hot-dip galvanized or stainless, or you'll be looking at rusted connections in a couple of years.
We stock both, and the right fasteners to go with them.
