What a meaningful evening in Chamberlain & Oacoma as we officially kicked off our local America’s 250th celebrations with the raising of the South Dakota America’s 250th Birthday Flag. 🇺🇸
As our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence this summer on July 4, 2026, tonight served as a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices that have been made, and the importance of coming together as a community.
We were especially honored to host the official traveling flag of the South Dakota America’s 250th Commission. This ceremonial flag will travel all across South Dakota as communities celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, and we are thrilled that Chamberlain & Oacoma were selected as one of the locations where it could proudly fly. The flag will only be in our communities for a few short days before continuing on to its next South Dakota destination this coming Tuesday.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended tonight’s ceremony and helped make this event possible. Events like this take many people working together behind the scenes, and we are thankful for the amazing support shown throughout our communities.
A very special thank you goes to Doug Feltman for all of his hard work organizing today’s event. Your dedication, leadership, and countless hours behind the scenes helped bring this ceremony to life, and we truly appreciate everything you have done.
Another special thank you to Doug Dozark for generously allowing us to borrow his incredible patriotic banners. They added such a beautiful and powerful touch to tonight’s ceremony and helped make the event even more memorable.
We would also like to thank the South Dakota America’s 250th Commission, including Doug Knust, Maximum Promotions, Potter Post #3, VFW Post 6436, Reverend Nicholas Schultz, the City of Chamberlain, the City of Oacoma, Mark Mueller, Oasis Pump N Pak, the Chamberlain Oacoma America’s 250th Planning Committee, and all of the local volunteers who gave their time and energy to make tonight happen.
This is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and historic celebration season for Chamberlain & Oacoma as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary together along the Missouri River.
Stay tuned for more America’s 250th events and activities coming soon!
