Benji and Bella, our smallest (and arguably most dedicated) members of the Renatus Living team, were hard at work today inspecting, measuring, and giving their official approval on a new live‑edge slab.

After a full morning of “quality control,” they wrapped up the day in their favorite office chair, supervising operations with the seriousness only 12 pounds of fluff can deliver.

Craftsmanship, comfort, and canine oversight — the Renatus Living way.

We created this as a true one of a kind, using a live‑edge Mappa Burl slab that floats instead of sits.

White oak herringbone floors feel right at home along the Battery. The floors are quietly elegant, timeless, and grounded in the kind of craftsmanship Charleston is known for. A classic pattern, a modern clarity, and a floor that carries the story of the house with grace.

There’s something compelling about the way walnut and steel play together — warmth held by structure, grain framed by precision.
This inspiration piece captures that dialogue beautifully, and it echoes the direction we explore in our own work. Our walnut veneer paired with our custom steel screens, where organic depth meets architectural clarity.

Materials in conversation.
Craft elevated by contrast.
A study in balance we never tire of.

Narrow maple boards line the renewed corridors of the former JCPenney, a retail shell recast as a place of care. The slender planks bring warmth to walls and ceilings, meeting Class A finish requirements while softening the scale of the old mall anchor. Maple, long associated with resilience, clarity, and steady renewal, becomes a fitting emblem for healing.
NATURAL, DURABLE, AND CODE-ALIGNED, THE MAPLE BECOMES THE GENTLE SPINE OF A MEDICAL FACILITY REBORN, AN UNDERSTATED GESTURE OF REUSE, CLARITY, AND CALM.

Few architectural elements make a statement quite like the timeless geometry of herringbone flooring. In this stunning room, the light oak pattern perfectly balances the moody, saturated colors of the deep burgundy walls and dark cabinetry. It creates a warm, expansive foundation that allows opulent details like the glamorous crystal chandelier and plush velvet chairs to truly shine.

Human Made is becoming the new status symbol, not because it’s rare in a superficial way, but because it carries intention, authorship, and emotional provenance. The things algorithms and mass production can’t counterfeit.

Why human-made is rising in value

Authenticity is the new scarcity. In a world of infinite digital replication, the one thing that can’t be mass‑produced is a human’s eye, hand, and lived experience.

People are craving emotional texture. Objects with story, touch, and imperfection feel grounding in an increasingly frictionless world.

Craft signals discernment. Choosing human-made isn’t just consumption; it’s a declaration of values, patience, connoisseurship, and a belief in the dignity of making.

Cultural fatigue with the algorithmic aesthetic. When everything starts to look the same, the handmade becomes a rebellion.

And the value curve is only going up!
