Meet the Team: Jason Burton, VP of Sales, North America
We're kicking off a new series introducing the people behind GTSE, starting with someone who plays a big role in our US operations.
🔴 What does a typical week look like for you?
There really isn’t a “typical” week, which is one of the things I enjoy about my role. I’m responsible for growing GTSE across North America, so my time is split between supporting existing customers, developing new business, quoting opportunities and building awareness of GTSE. Some weeks I’m traveling to visit customers or attend industry events, and others I’m working from our Indianapolis operation. There’s always something different going on.
🔴 What's one thing customers would be surprised to know about how the US side works?
Probably how much we’ve built in a relatively short time. GTSE was already established in the UK, but the U.S. operation essentially started from the ground up. We now stock inventory in Indianapolis and support customers throughout North America. Our goal is to combine the resources of an established international company with the responsiveness and personal service of a local business.
🔴 How did you end up in the fastener and industrial supply world?
Like a lot of people in this industry, I didn’t exactly grow up planning to sell cable ties! I found my way into industrial supply through a sales opportunity and quickly realized how much I enjoyed it. Over the years, I’ve built relationships with distributors across the country, and those relationships eventually helped lead me to the opportunity to launch and grow GTSE in North America.
🔴 What do you enjoy most about the job?
Definitely the people and relationships. The industrial and fastener industries are surprisingly close-knit, and I’ve been fortunate to develop friendships with customers and others in the industry. I also really enjoy building something. Being part of GTSE’s North American growth from the beginning and seeing each new customer and opportunity come together is incredibly rewarding.
🔴 What do you do when you're not working?
I spend as much time as I can with my wife Rachel and our daughter Kirsten. We love traveling and experiencing new places together. I’m also a big golfer, so if the weather cooperates, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find me on a golf course. Even better when I can combine golf and travel! I also enjoy good food, visiting distilleries and spending time with friends and family.
If you're in the industry, say hello to Jason!
