Raleigh’s past and future are sharing the same block at The Creamery.

Built in 1928 and still crowned by its iconic butter churn, the historic Pine State Creamery building remains at the heart of a growing downtown Raleigh hub for residential, office and retail uses.

The development includes Highline Glenwood, a 37-story residential tower with retail, and 404 Glenwood at The Creamery, planned for office and retail use.

We’re proud to supply our Lightweight CMU to Boettcher Masonry for work within The Creamery development.

A Raleigh landmark, still making history.

Meet 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻, who is celebrating 𝟮𝟯 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 this year.

Victor works in the 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝗖 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁, where his day starts at 4 a.m. checking to see if the plant needs any help getting up and running before he gets started on the next mold that needs to be cleaned or rebuilt.

A major part of Victor’s job is 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. He cleans and inspects molds, makes repairs, replaces worn parts, and keeps replacement parts on hand. Keeping molds in good condition is critical to production, since molds that become worn or out of square can create problems for machine operators and affect the production process.

Victor also helps in several other areas around the plant. He occasionally operates the front-end loader and can step in to 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 when other employees are out.

One of Victor’s favorite parts of the job is the team around him. “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗴𝗼 𝗯𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.”

Outside of work, Victor and his wife enjoy traveling. Together they’ve visited Italy, Ireland and Vietnam. Victor has already been to Vietnam twice and is looking forward to a third trip coming up.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟯 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆!

We are proud to have donated the gray block and brick used in this Habitat for Humanity home in Lexington, North Carolina. With construction nearing completion, it is rewarding to see our materials become part of a place a local family will soon call home.

Thank you to Habitat for Humanity and everyone helping bring this project across the finish line.

As students head back to classrooms across the country, it’s a great reminder that the materials used to build our schools matter. Concrete masonry provides the strength, durability and resilience today’s educational facilities need.

We’re happy to see 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 featured in this 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬 article, highlighting 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 and the role our Lightweight CMU plays in the project.
