This A2 was recently obtained directly from the veteran’s son and identified to Walter F L A C H from Buffalo, New York. He enlisted in 1942, and served with the 790th Ordnance Light Maintenance Company, 90th Infantry Division throughout the war, landing on Utah Beach on D+2. Shortly after the liberation of Flossenbürg Concentration Camp, he traded for this jacket in Czechoslovakia in 1945. He wore this jacket throughout the duration of the war before handing it down to his son wore this jacket in the 70s.

The jacket was modified at some point with a fur lining. The cuffs appear to be replacement (maybe war time) and the zipper was also replaced at some point.

I hope you enjoy.

HNI Militaria is happy to show a recent addition to the collection. Shown is a beautiful two-tone camouflaged M1 helmet set found in Southern France, in Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée. The helmet appears to have a light green/tan over paint, and a heavy OD paint camouflage applied with a brush.

The helmet shows signs of hard use and multiple owners. On the rear of the helmet is ‘KIRBY’ stenciled in white, and partially obscured by camouflaged paint. Part of the chinstraps are painted as well, which is very neat. Inside of the helmet is a partially obscured laundry number with a K prefix. Also visible is the second owner ’DAVIDSON’ in pencil.

The Firestone liner matches the shell, and fits firmly in place. There are no visible markings, names, or laundry numbers inside or outside the helmet liner, but does show a heavy OD brush overpaint.

The chinstraps always tell a story. These are heavily soiled, painted, and look to be configured for a quick release.

I hope you enjoy!

I am excited to share a Vietnam APH-5 Helicopter Pilot’s Helmet, identified right WO1 Kenneth J. Freck, of the 121st Assault Helicopter Company (AHC).

The helmet appears to have been struck, penetrating the visor, shield, and helmet - causing significant damage.

It is unknown when the damage occurred. The owner thought enough to keep it stored away in the original felt helmet bag. Unfortunately, Freck passed away in 2010.

I hope you enjoy!

I am excited to share a beautiful, and likely one of the best known examples of a Viet Cong used straw sun hat with plastic cover, net, and scrim with battle damage.

The exterior displays the normal wear and sun fading expected, while the interior is fashioned with a cloth chin-strap that is well worn and still dirty.

Two holes on top but likely an entrance and exit based on the damage. I hope you all enjoy this wonderful piece.

Very neat Viet Cong used sun hat modeled off of a French Campaign hat, common during the early years of the French Indochina war.

The camouflage parachute scrim was added in the grommet holes.

Vietnamese made Punji sticks.

These primitive tools were well placed in well concealed pits or fixed to something that would inflict serious damage to the feet and legs when impailed.

Here is a very cool Chinese made SKS belt for export to North Vietnam military. This belt was removed from an enemy KIA, as evident of the cut straps.

The belt features heavy use and wear, and also shows battle damage on one of the adjustment buckles.

I hope you enjoy!
