THE RESULTS ARE IN!

After a long week of competition, the Buckeyes took home the bronze in the 2025 Region III SAFECON hosted by Kent State University, and have qualified for nationals in the spring in Moline, Illinois!

The Buckeyes are BACK. We’ve landed at Kent State University for 2025 NIFA Region III SAFECON. A few practice days ahead, then competition kicks off Sunday evening.

THE RESULTS ARE IN: 

The Ohio State University Flight Team placed 4th in the Nation overall and 2nd in the Nation on Flying Events, just behind the University of North Dakota!

Some highlights of the amazing work from the team are placements in every event, some of these being:

* Bryn Barr in 5th place for Aircraft Preflight
* Nico Clayton and Zach Hahn in 3rd place for Crew Resource Management and 4th in Traditional Navigation
* Joe Waxman, Charlie Jacobs, and Caleb Foote in 4th, 6th, and 19th place respectively for Ground Trainer/Sim
* Joe Waxman in 2nd place for the IFR Simulator
* Fengning Liu and Zach Hahn in 5th place for Message Drop
* Walter Jimenez in 4th place for Short Field/Power-on Landings and recipient of the Gary Hemphill “Spirit of NIFA” Award

… among many others!

We are extremely proud of the team’s efforts during an interesting weather week. The support from coaches and alumni was always there and always appreciated—it is an honor to have the backing of each one to accomplish these achievements. 

Many of our seniors graduated the week before coming to Oshkosh to compete. Still, some will stay to coach and continue their careers as Flight Team and OSU Aviation Alumni!
