Knocked out a fun project this weekend! A local owner operator had installed some hard ox liner plates in his dump truck, and brought it over so I could weld up the corner transitions… job complete, and the life span of his dump body has been significantly increased!

Had a quick little rush project today… a machine bent the rod on a hydraulic cylinder, so a new one was ordered from the manufacturer. Seems they updated the cylinder since the hydraulic ports on the new one were 3/8 pipe thread whereas the original was 1/2 pipe thread. Unfortunately the hose connection is a British pipe o-ring fitting which isn’t common here… so the option was to order the correct fittings and have the machine down several days or have me turn down the 1/2 pipe threads to 3/8 pipe thread. Parts are done and ready to be installed in under two hours… another job completed and a very happy customer!

This afternoons project is repairing threads on a drive shaft off a semi truck… while the threads look fine, the yoke removal tool applied so much pressure that it “bubbled” the threads at the tip so much that they couldn’t reinstall the yoke nut… chucked it up in the lathe and chased the threads back to the proper OD size. Now fits nice and snug as it should. Job complete and another happy customer!

Here’s a shaft repair I’m finishing up this morning… A bearing went out and wasn’t caught in time… chewed the shaft by over .400”. Cleaned up the surface to prepare for welding, built it back up and now I’m taking the last few passes to return the bearing journal to the original 1-15/16 diameter. Less than 24hrs turn around! Picked up a new to me machine and didn’t even have time to get it off the trailer when a rush job came in… no worries! Ran an extension for the 3 phase and machined a 9.25” hub bore on this 27” sprocket! Job done and now I can focus on skating this into its new home!!! AKA my shop…
