Rivian just rolled out its new AI-powered voice assistant "Rivian Assistant" to Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners on Connect+. Built on Rivian's in-house platform called Rivian Unified Intelligence, it goes well beyond standard voice commands.

We're talking hands-free vehicle control, agentic multi-step task chaining (think: check your calendar, find a coffee stop en route, and text your ETA all from one ask), and deep integration with vehicle-native systems like drive modes, air suspension, and climate.

What's interesting from an industry standpoint: Rivian built this entirely in-house rather than partnering with a third-party AI provider like most automakers have done. It's a vertical integration play and it signals where the broader EV ecosystem is heading.

Great having the Samsung C&T Charging Solutions team stop by the Premier EV Chargers office this week!

Really enjoyed spending time with Dan Larson, Jesse Kim, and Soobeen Jeon discussing the EV market, from national trends to what we’re seeing firsthand here on Long Island. It was valuable to exchange perspectives on incentives, installations, real-world deployment, and how EV charging is continuing to evolve.

We were especially impressed by the thoughtfulness behind Samsung C&T’s chargers and overall approach, from how deployment-ready the products are to the strong emphasis on software, accessibility, and long-term support. Always refreshing to connect with teams that think beyond just hardware.

⚡ Important Update for Long Island Property Owners & Developers ⚡

2026 PSEG Long Island EV Make Ready incentives are officially OPEN but funding is more limited than in past years.

The good news?
👉 Incentives are still VERY strong
👉 In some cases, property owners can still see up to 100% of make-ready installation costs covered

The reality?
💰 DC Fast Charger funding is limited and will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

What you should know:

✔ Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers are eligible
✔ New tier structure (Tier 1 = highest incentive)
✔ Cash rebates now apply to both Level 2 & DCFC
✔ Multi-family sites capped at $100k per location
✔ Once funding runs out, it’s gone

This is one of those programs where waiting can literally cost you tens of thousands of dollars.
