A Knight Wall Systems estimate gives you more than a material quantity.

It gives your team a clear picture of what the cladding support scope looks like across the actual building.

Every estimate starts with a project-specific quantity take-off and estimate developed from the construction documents, outlining the anticipated Knight Wall Systems components and material quantities required for the project and the total cost of those materials.

We also provide a project drawing markup to show where those materials and systems are being applied. This gives your team visual context for the take-off and helps clarify how different elevations, wall condition, and other project-specific details were accounted for.

When needed or requested, we can also provide a Preliminary Structural Analysis to evaluate the proposed system and establish preliminary spacing requirements based on the project conditions.

The jobsite should not be where critical cladding support decisions are being figured out.

By the time installation begins, questions like these should already have answers:
➡️ What spacing is required?
➡️ Which fasteners should be used?
➡️ How should inside and outside corners be handled?
➡️ What happens around openings and penetrations?
➡️ How are top and bottom-of-wall conditions addressed?
➡️ How does the support system need to respond to the project’s load requirements?

Our team completes a detailed engineering review of the building and provides stamped structural calculations and drawings that define how the cladding support system should be applied across the project.

Preliminary Structural Analysis and Project-Specific Engineering serve different purposes, but they answer a related question: Will the cladding support system work for this building?

A Preliminary Structural Analysis evaluates the structural performance of the proposed wall assembly against the project’s anticipated wind, seismic, and dead loads.

At this stage, the goal is to understand whether the proposed cladding support system is appropriate for the conditions of the project and identify areas that may need to be addressed before moving further into design or engineering.
Project-Specific Engineering takes that evaluation much further.

Our engineering team completes a detailed review of the building and develops stamped structural calculations verifying compliance with applicable building codes and project-specific wind, seismic, and dead load requirements.

Stamped engineering drawings then define how the support system is applied across project conditions, including:
➡️ Openings and penetrations
➡️ Inside and outside corners
➡️ Top and bottom wall transitions
➡️ Typical wall conditions
➡️ Other project-specific conditions

The wall detail shows what you want to build. The project conditions determine what it takes to support it.

Cladding support design is influenced by much more than insulation thickness and façade aesthetics alone.

Project conditions can significantly affect cladding support requirements. Building height, wind exposure, cladding weight, cavity depth, substrate, orientation, and the location of the cladding support system on the building may all influence the final design.

A configuration that works in the field of the wall may not be suitable at a corner, and a system designed for lightweight panels may need to be adjusted for heavier cladding. Considering these factors early helps confirm that the cladding support system is appropriate before the details become fixed.

It does not mean every connection needs to be fully engineered during design. It means understanding whether the proposed support system is realistic for the conditions of the project while there is still an opportunity to make changes.
Because two buildings can have the same insulation, the same cladding, and a very similar wall assembly on paper, yet require very different cladding support configurations depending on project-specific details.

Sometimes preserving the façade design means engineering around what happens behind it.

At the Central Washington University North Academic Complex, cavity-depth requirements, adhered thin brick loads, wind loads, and angled façade conditions created challenges that could not all be addressed with the same standard detail.

The solution wasn’t to make the entire wall assembly custom. It was to identify where the standard approach stopped working and engineer targeted solutions around those specific conditions.

Custom fabrication should solve the exception, not make the entire wall more complicated.

When a standard cladding support system works for the majority of a project, there is little reason to redesign the entire approach around one unique condition.

The better question is: What specifically CAN'T be accommodated by the standard system?

Maybe it is one transition. An extended cavity depth. A change in geometry. A unique connection point. Or another project-specific condition that falls outside the capabilities of a standard component.

At KNIGHT WALL SYSTEMS®, our approach to custom fabrication is to isolate that constraint and develop a targeted solution for it.

That could mean modifying an existing component or fabricating a custom bracket, rail, girt, clip, or profile using the same steel, innovation, and engineering expertise behind our standard cladding support systems.

The goal is not to add components or complexity where they are not needed. It is to solve exactly what the project requires while allowing the rest of the wall assembly to remain as straightforward as possible.
