I'm all for every one of the unsung heroes being paid more, but it is so annoying to get the bill at the end and see a 3.5% surcharge and 4.5% BOH blah blah and then 11% in sales plus you're an as***le if you don't tip 20%. All of the sudden your $40 meal is $56.
I was just in New Zealand and the price on the menu is the price you pay.
Just bake all of the BS into one number and be honest about distributing money to your staff..
The practice grew in popularity during the pandemic.
