While some manufacturers machine their turnbuckle bodies from solid steel, we produce ours the "traditional" way with a Brown & Sharpe screw machine. In this video, you’ll see how every closed turnbuckle body is drilled and threaded before moving on to finishing.
A traditional body starts as tubing that’s cut to length, then swaged, drilled, and threaded. A machined body, by contrast, begins as solid stock that’s cut away to achieve the same final shape. Both approaches arrive at a similar result, but through very different processes.
In many cases, formed material like tubing retains a more continuous grain structure, which can offer advantages in strength and fatigue resistance compared to fully machined parts.
