Rockingham Cooperative is headquartered in Dayton, Virginia, with retail stores in Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Elkton, Timberville, Woodstock, Monterey, Waynesboro, Troutville, Stuarts Draft, Wirtz, Strasburg, and Verona, Virginia. We are retail farm and consumer products stores with a major presence in Rockingham, Shenandoah, Augusta and Highland Counties. In November of 2010, Rockingham Cooperative purchased RMC, which includes Rocking R Hardware stores in Harrisonburg and Waynesboro and Rockingham Mill in Dayton. In early 2014, Rockingham Cooperative purchased Draft Feed & Supply, Stuarts Draft Ace Hardware and Stuarts Draft Marine. Since that acquisition, the Marine building has become the new home to our Ag & Farm Supply store in Stuarts Draft. Since 1921, Rockingham Cooperative has provided our local communities with high quality goods used in all walks of life and we invite you to visit our stores.

On this day in cooperative history, Rockingham Cooperative hosts one of the first meetings of the then names Virginia Council of Farmer Cooperatives.

Mr. Elmer Kaylor presided over the meeting in 1962 and was a key figure in the organizations early success. Since then, the organization is now called the Virginia Cooperative Council , expanding involvement beyond agricultural cooperatives.

On this day in cooperative history in 1951, Rockingham Cooperative's original Board of Director President passed away at his home in McGaheysville. Gabriel F. Holsingers impact on not only Rockingham Cooperative, but also the Virginia Farm Bureau Association, is difficult to measure.

He was responsible for the creation and growth of many Farm Bureau and Cooperative organizations across Virginia.

On this day in cooperative history, it was announced in 1927 that Charles W. Wampler, Sr. was to retire from his role as a County Agent after 8 years of service advancing agricultural practices and knowledge to producers all across the area.

Rockingham Cooperative owes Mr. Wampler a great deal, and not just for lending a spare desk to C.V. Smith during the first years of operation.

Mr. Wampler partnered with cooperative leadership over his years of service to recruit more members for both purchasing and marketing cooperatives in the area, as well as promote agricultural education programs within the county.

On this day in cooperative history, Rockingham Cooperative held their Annual Picnic at Massanetta Springs in 1936 with in between 4,000 and 5,000 individuals present to celebrate their cooperative and hear updates about cooperative business.

Annual Picnics were all-day events during the early years of the cooperative with bands playing, games for kids and adults, and speakers coming from across the the region to address the crowd.

Elkton's branch has moved several times throughout its history, with its most recent location being purchased from Rockingham Milling Company in 1961.
