💨🎄Since it’s officially Christmas season now, I got some shop time in and made some “baked goods”! Top to bottom is crosscut oak wine barrel stave, walnut burl and gold resin, and Australian mallee burl. My first foray into pipe-making, but I like how these turned out!

Happy Halloween from Palouse Craftworks! It’s not wood turning, but I had to show off these walnut and brass semi-floating surfboard shelves I designed and recently finished. They are a perfect fit in a narrow hallway, but it’s almost a shame to put anything on them to cover that beautiful figure!

Roughing out some bowl blanks from some gigantic mesquite logs this morning and I found some beautiful grain and curl in the bends and crotches. Hard to see with the saw marks but I’m excited to get these on the lathe!

I didn’t make the knife, but I made the knife better! I love the natural sheen of the African Blackwood with the copper ferrule. Sometimes less is more!

These are going to make some incredible pens! Ridiculously nice fordite in flavors of Kenworth, Corvette, modern Jeep and vintage Jeep glued up and ready to go on the lathe!

This has been one of those weekends that didn’t feel particularly productive, but I made a lot of headway on several halfway-done projects (we all have those!). This knife handle has been on my workbench for months and I’m finally getting around to hogging out the channel for a hidden tang. That African Blackwood does not make it easy to file away at by hand, but now the hard part is over!

It’s been a busy few weeks, but I managed to get in the shop and make something other than a pen! This watch stand is a personal project that’s been on my to-do list for awhile, and it’s fun to see it finally come to life. This is teak decking from the USS Des Moines and solid brass, and I turned the base to have a kind of ripple effect like the brass is being dropped in water. What do you think?

🚛 It’s not every day you see Kenworth material like this piece! The fordite on this pen is very nearly solid with small pools of resin, and chock full of color and eyes throughout. This may be on Etsy soon, or it may be added to my personal collection - I haven’t decided yet!

🦣Cleaning up a few mammoth blocks today ahead of the heat. These are going to make some amazing pens and knife scales, but they look fantastic even in blank form!

Ramping up to do some blank casting - new fordite, mammoth, and hybrid burl coming soon! I got tired of not knowing what the color of the mica or dye would look like cast, so I made samples… of nearly 200 different colors! Some of these I never would have guessed how they would look based on the powder in the container.

LOVE the color in this piece! Direct spray Kenworth fordite is quickly becoming one of my favorites for its fantastic figure and range of colors. Paired up with a solid brass section and a Bock nib, this will be available soon on Etsy!
