Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade? And how long?
My name is Connor, I enjoy all things offroad. I’m a very hands on creative person and I’m never willing to give up on a project. For me I feel like the trades found me, from a young age I was always tinkering with something. It started with legos, then drift cars, go karts then dirtbikes and trucks. I always liked working with my hands, so when I was given the opportunity to compete for a full ride Millwright apprenticeship I went all in and got my red seal. I started as a millwright when I was 17, I am now 25 so it’s been about 8 years in the trade and still learning everyday fixing and diagnosing issues and mechanical work on submarines.

What keeps you motivated throughout the day?
Knowing that I have so much to look forward to and projects to complete keeps me motivated. I feel like I rarely struggle to find motivation, if you work towards what you are passionate about every day the motivation should come naturally.

What is your favorite shop tool and why?
This is a tough one, but currently it would have to be my.....

Tell us about yourself - what inspired you to get into your trade? And how long?
I always have been a builder and maker. Went to art school to study ceramics. There was a metal fabrication shop and I never took a ceramics class. I've been professionally fabricating metal for over 25 years since graduation. Many of my ancestors were metal workers and mill wrights so I think it may be in my blood as well.

What keeps you motivated throughout the day?
The daily rhythm of work keeps me motivated. I enjoy the challenging process of metal fabrication and going through the motions of a project. Metal can be a bit slow, but gets faster with more skill, planning and larger equipment. A great stereo system helps also.

What is your favorite shop tool and why?
I love all tools in the shop. Some are more sentimental, some were.....
