Well it wouldn’t be Memorial Weekend without smoking a brisket. I debated this year about doing this since all my briskets have been failures thus far ! But if you know me, I NEVER give up! So, I went to Costco this morning and got scared away by the price and headed back towards home. Well as most of you far West siders know, 20 is a disaster so as traffic slowed in Willow Park I got off the access road so I could get to my Aledo exit faster. The brisket gods were calling me though and I made a quick stop at Brookshire's and picked up this beautiful cut of meat!! Brookshire’s always has the best meats and I love supporting our local businesses! So here we go…briskets on low and slow at 230 degrees with Meat Church BBQ Holy Cow and SuckleBusters SPG (yes I use two). More to come tomorrow morning!!!

My Uncle was as a cowboy who ran 1000’s of heads of cattle in Northern NV for most of his life after serving as Marine in Vietnam. I would spend many Summers with him working on the ranches. This is where he taught me how to make bread. He always cooked it to perfection over an open flame. While I’ve mastered it in a conventional oven, today was my first time cooking on a smoker and it didn’t disappoint. Would love for y’all to come in today and enjoy this bread! I even went all out and bought Kerrygold butters!
