To attach the top plate to the ram, I decided to go with a boat hand rail 90 degree fixture(link in comments).
Very carefully center and mark bolt holes. Keep the depth of the tapped hole at a minimum. I am useing 10-24×3/8" bolts.
Drill & tap to proper specs.

I gave this budget press a close inspection as it was being bolted together. Overall it's really nice for a $103 press. It's got nice welds, pretty paint and is on square.
On the negative side I noticed the c-channel adjustable table could have been made of heavier material. It does have a give to it which I don't care for. Another minus would be the standard import bottle jack. Even though it works fine, it looks suspiciously smaller than a 6 ton bought at Harbor Freight. I also didn't like how sloppily the bolts fit into the bottom braces.
But hey, it is the cheapest one out there. It's shortcomings can be easily modified or used as is.

With only 6 bolts to complete assembly even your grandma could set it up.

Here is a 6 ton a-frame shop press. It's small footprint makes it a great choice for first time builders.
I modified the bed and legs with longer bolts and washers to get more space between the heat plates. Now, with 3" clearance and a much sturdier base makes this a breeze to use.

Finished up my latest project, the Dual Controller ammo box with storage for your plates when not in use. I bought my electronics on Amazon for $35 and used a ammo box from Tractor Supply for $15 as well as a handfull of reclaimed parts from my workshop.
It was my first time using this type of rex100 pid and was fairly easy to figure out with the help of a few videos. I encourage you to give "do it yourself" a try, it's a relaxing hobby and gives a great deal of personal satisfaction.

Cutting square holes in the steel ammo can is a pain but can be done with a light hand and minimal skill. Helpful tips: Cover box with masking tape before you lay-out where to cut. Cut on inside of lines then finish with hand file to insure a good fit.
