Happy Saturday! We are open until 3pm today.

A customer brought us a picture of the Natural Bridge that used to hang at a hardware store in Frankfort, C.D. Tinker & Co. We visited that bridge over the summer, because of the picture. This morning, Ryan added a few pictures of our family, including our visit to Natural Bridge, to our picture wall.

We are all ready for Trick-Or-Treat at the store tomorrow. Ryan's mom passes out candy here, while we take our kids trick-or-treating. It might just be one kid this year, since the older kids are too cool for us now.😆

Good morning!! I hope that you have had a good week. Ryan and I took cold walks every morning before work. I don't know if I can do that when it gets even colder.😅 Ryan still picks up trash every other morning on our walks. He wouldn't want me to write that. It is a small thing, but it makes a difference. I am always proud of the person he is.

I restocked many areas of the store this week. The hardware, the candy, the mugs, and the candles. We added a new candy in the process. We now have Creme Savers Strawberries & Cream. We also received our order from Warrior Works. If you saw a previous post and was interested in a Frankfort sign, ornament or tumbler, we have several of each. What a great addition to our gift shop!

A sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past is the online definition for nostalgia. A lot of shows and movies today bring casts back together from my youth. People seem to crave nostalgia.

I was cooking one night when my son played me a song. I had to laugh. He said, "Do you know this song?". I did, because it was over 20 years old. It was a band that I listened to when I was in High School. He told me that it was his favorite song right now and that made me very happy. A song can bring you right back to your younger self. A store can do the same.

We preserve the nostalgia of this hardware store because we think it is special. When someone mentions the smell, the creak of the wood floors, or they share a memory with us, it is usually accompanied by a smile or wistful look. That makes it pretty special.

As for the younger generations, maybe an old store can become a new favorite. Just like a song.

A fall Saturday at the store. Ryan hung up some ghosts, I restocked the soy candles that everyone loves, and we have been selling a lot of straw. We are open until 3pm today. Have a good weekend.🍁🍂

Good morning!! These are our labels for the hardware order we received yesterday. Ryan already started entering in the information. It will take a while to enter the rest of the list into our system. There are 173 labels to scan and update information in between customers. After this is completed, we start stocking the shelves. A day in the life.

I hope that you have had a good week! The store was busy probably because of the beautiful weather. We are open until 5pm today and our Saturday hours are 8:30am until 3pm. Have a great day!

Good morning! There is a couple that stops in every year when they visit Frankfort. They are from the south. We met them when they stopped by, at some point, after we took over the store.

They have included us in their visit ever since. They stopped in yesterday. They don't need hardware, since they are just visiting. They stop in to see how we are doing, to ask about the kids, and to see what changes we have made. They genuinely care about our story here.

Owning a hardware store has brought people into our lives that we wouldn't have met otherwise. They seem to come in just to see my family. And they come in with a smile and encouragement. We have lost some of these people over the years, but there always seems to be someone that comes along and continues to provide us with encouragement. I like to think that they are listening to a subtle nudge. How encouraging when we are tired and we have given the store our all. What a blessing.
