The vines are trying to make it a challenge to get in the back door.😆 We've moved them several times. They are doing well. Unfortunately, the window baskets are really struggling in this heat.

Good afternoon!! Ryan and I have been busy putting out a bolt order and a hardware order. There is no time for rest this week. We are grateful, though, that so much needed restocked. The other night, we saw a senior getting a few of her senior pictures taken in front of the store.❤️

I was going through our bolt order, when a customer walked into the back room. He asked me if I love what I do. He probably didn't think that I did because I was stocking bolts, but I actually like stocking bolts. He went on to tell me what he did before he retired. When he was leaving, he told me to have a good life. He said that so many people say, "Have a good day." He was from Virginia. I don't know why that conversation stuck with me. I have many conversations in the day with customers. Sometimes it feels like someone is just letting you know that you are seen.

And yes, I do love what I do. There are some days that are harder than others, but I spend every day with Ryan working, planning and creating. I love that. We hope you have a good evening!

Good morning! I hope you had a good weekend. I am trying to finish some drywall at home. I am not great at it, but I have done it in several of our projects. I am a bit better at it now then when I started. Ryan has a lot of faith in my abilities.😅 It will be covered with wallpaper eventually.

I walked the girls to the bus this morning and took a picture of one of our sunflowers. It looked like fall with our burning bush turning red right behind it.

We will be stocking shelves today. Ryan got an early start rearranging some items in the lawn and garden section. We got a new display for striking tools, so that created more work.😅 Have a great Monday!

We started our day by bringing an order into the store and since then we have had a steady flow of customers. I have also been entering all of the items into our system before we stock the shelves, while Ryan built a display rack.

It was just an ordinary workday, but then one of our neighbors brought us a handmade gift. It was a small painting of the front of the store. Time is precious and the idea that she used hers to create something for us is pretty special. She made our day!

I hope that you are having a good week! I thought about Paige all day yesterday, just wondering how her first day was going. As soon as I saw her, I knew she loved it. Now that it is just Ryan and I at the store all day, we might get a lot more work done. We do have some plans. But I noticed today that the day seems to go a lot faster.😅

I was going to write something sweet about Ryan for his birthday, but he specifically told me not to. I do have a lot of good things say about him, but I'll keep it short. Happy Birthday, Ryan!!

We took our last morning walk with Paige before she starts Kindergarten tomorrow. She has been pretty insistent that we don't take morning walks lately. She let us know that she was not happy about it the whole walk.

Paige doesn't usually make things easy. She has big emotions, big energy and big opinions. Although I do admire those things that make her Paige, she is the kid that challenges me the most. But there are those times when it all seems to overwhelm her and she seeks me out, because I am her calm.

I know that she is going to love Kindergarten. Time moves so quickly. It doesn't seem that long ago that she was crawling around the store.🥰

As the weather reminds us of what is around the corner, I did change out our wreath selection to fall. They are behind the counter, so they aren't as easy to spot. I will be adding some more fall items to our gift area soon.

I hope that you had a good weekend! Ryan is working on a bolt order this morning. We have been selling a lot from our bolt bins. He will be working on our hardware order tomorrow. I need to get some orders going for the gift area. Lots to do this week. Since I have a small area, I am always trying to figure out what gifts work best. Sometimes I get it wrong. It is all trial and error.

Good morning!! Thanks so much for the shares on our reel yesterday! We gained another 20+ followers.

I have seen people come in the store for the first time, do a quick scan, and leave pretty quickly. It isn't for everyone. They glance through our small gift section and realize that we are mostly a hardware store. Although, in addition to hardware, we do have cleaning supplies, light bulbs, batteries, and more essentials. I have also seen people that come in and take it all in...the antiques, the ceiling, the floor, the history. Those are the people that I love to reach on here. People that appreciate an old-fashioned hardware store.

Ryan and I have put so much work into this place. Some days I wonder if we have put too much work into it, because I go through phases of burn out. But we are always blessed by someone that comes in and says, 'this is really neat.' That is usually enough to inspire us to keep moving forward. Thanks for following along.

We have a gained a lot of new followers recently. My husband and I run a small hardware store in a small town. We just happen to be fortunate enough to continue a hardware store that started when this building was built in 1920. We do our best to preserve its original charm.
