You should be seeing Virginia Bluebells blooming just about now! Look at these we saw!
Here's a quick guide on how to care for them

Light: They prefer partial to full shade. While they can handle some morning sun, direct afternoon sun can scorch their leaves and requires more frequent watering.
Soil: Plant in rich, moist, well-draining soil high in organic matter. They do not thrive in heavy clay that holds too much water or in sandy soil that dries out too quickly.
Water: Maintain consistent moisture, especially during the first growing season. The soil should stay moist but not soggy to prevent root rot.
Fertilizer: In nutrient-rich soil, they generally do not need fertilizer. You can top-dress with compost or leaf mulch each spring to provide natural nutrients.

🌱 Middle Tennessee gardeners! it's GO time!
April is one of the most important months of the year for your lawn and garden, and if you haven't started yet, here's your sign.
Here's what you should be doing RIGHT NOW:

🌿 Lawn: Most Middle TN lawns are tall fescue a cool-season grass that loves this weather. Get your mower blade sharpened and set to 2–3 inches. If you haven't laid down a pre-emergent herbicide yet, you've got a small window left before it's too late to stop crabgrass and summer weeds.
🌼 Planting: The magic date in Middle TN is April 15th when frost risk typically drops off. You can safely put hardy plants, shrubs, azaleas, and some vegetables in the ground now, but hold off on warm-weather flowers and tender veggies for a few more days. Cover anything sensitive overnight if temps threaten to dip.
🌸 Garden beds: Refresh that mulch layer (2 inches is the sweet spot), prune any spring-blooming shrubs right after they finish blooming, and cut back woody perennials like rosemary and lavender.
🌱 Summer bulbs: If dahlias are your thing, now's the time, the soil is finally warming up enough to get them in the ground.
☀️ Fertilizer: If you fertilized your cool-season grass last fall, you may not need it now. Wait until that spring growth flush settles before feeding

To Our Cherished Harpeth Hardware Family,
For over 50 years, Harpeth Hardware has been more than just a store...it’s been a place of shared stories, weekend projects, and lifelong friendships. Serving this incredible community has been the greatest honor of our lives. We are deeply grateful for every handshake and every moment you invited us to be a small part of your home.
As we prepare to officially close our doors on April 1st, we wanted to ensure that the community spirit we’ve built here together continues to thrive.
With that in mind, we are so proud to announce that Harpeth Hardware is passing the torch. Starting April 1st, the Facebook and Instagram page will be under the full ownership and leadership of Scott Tomlin and Scott Tomlin Landscaping Consulting.
Many of you already know Scott as a trusted voice here. Whether he was sharing landscaping tips or answering your toughest garden questions at our Ladies Nights.
Scott is the "real deal," and his passion for this craft is why we knew he was the only person to carry this Facebook and Instagram community forward.
While the Harpeth Hardware team is stepping away to begin our own next chapters, we are at peace knowing you are in expert hands. Whether you’re looking for garden inspiration or professional consulting, Scott will be here to guide you.
Thank you for 50 beautiful years. Please join us in welcoming Scott as he takes the lead!
With love and gratitude,
The Harpeth Hardware Team

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our final day of business will be April 1, 2026.
For more than fifty years, the doors of Harpeth True Value have opened each morning with one simple purpose: to serve our friends and neighbors here in Franklin.
What began as a hometown hardware store in a quieter, smaller Franklin more than 50 years ago, grew alongside this community through decades of change. We watched farmland become neighborhoods, two-lane roads become busy thoroughfares, and families grow from first homes to generational homes. Through it all, one thing never changed. You trusted us to be part of your lives. Whether it was helping a young couple pick out their first toolbox, helping you pick out plants and flowers each Spring, tracking down a hard-to-find bolt on a Saturday afternoon, or simply sharing stories at the counter, we were never just a store. We were a gathering place. A resource. A familiar face when you needed one.

Like many small, independent businesses across the country, financial realities and the changing retail landscape have made it impossible for us to continue. This decision was not made lightly. It comes after deep reflection, countless conversations, and a sincere desire to find an offramp to another path forward. Unfortunately, this is where our journey must come to an end.
But what remains, and what will always remain, is our gratitude to our friend and community.
You allowed us to be part of your projects, your milestones, and your everyday moments for more than 50 years! Generations of families walked through our doors. A lot of you first came in holding your parents’ hands and later returned with children of your own. That kind of trust is something we never took for granted.
In the coming weeks, we invite you to stop by, not just to shop, but to share memories, grab some popcorn, and spend a little time with the people who made this place feel like home. Come say goodbye to the familiar faces who have helped you, laughed with you, and served you faithfully over the years. Many of them have been part of your lives for decades, like Charley, who has dedicated more than 50 years to this store! Plus his sons, Jason and Matthew. Our contractors all know and trust Patty Buswell and Sheila Coleman, and on the sales floor you have been greeted time and again by people like David Swain, Jessica Lindsey, and Ken Standbridge. They are more than employees. They are the heart and soul of Harpeth True Value, and they would love the chance to see you one more time.
They are the heart of this store, and they would love the chance to see you one more time.
While this chapter is ending, the relationships we built here will never truly end. We will forever be proud to have been your neighborhood hardware store.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for welcoming us into your lives for more than 50 years. Thank you for your loyalty. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for allowing us to serve you and this extraordinary community.
Thank you, Franklin.
With deepest gratitude,
The Harpeth True Value Family
