Its name may be Modern Hardware, but this company has a rich history behind it and offers much more than just hardware. The company was originally established in 1924 at its current location in Grand Rapids, under the name Oakdale Fuel & Materials. Over the years, Modern Hardware's offerings grew and changed with the times, from coal and building materials to builders' supplies, decorativ
e hardware and fireplaces. Now in it’s second-generation, it is currently owned by Elaine Dreyer and her husband Rick, along with her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Vicki Vander Lugt. As one might expect from a family-run business, Modern Hardware has always offered a personal touch when it comes to shopping, and a pledge to "treat customers with honesty and integrity". Today:
