Today's Brownsville Hardware began in 1923 with the purchase of the former George L. Moore & Sons Hardware by James Caulley. Our present owner, Patrick Ballon, purchased the business in 1974 and has always been the sole owner. In October 1996, our location was moved from a 3000 sq. ft. building on Water Street in Brownsville to our present location at 6027 National Pike. Our 19,000 sq. ft. of floor space includes over 25,000 items, a rental department, a small engine repair shop and a 3000 sq. ft. power equipment showroom. In January 2012 we completed an expansion of 3400 sq ft. of our plumbing and electrical departments and expanding our warehouse with 3400 sq ft.

We are unique in the fact that not only are we a full service Hardware store, we also offer a full service Power Equipment Sales and Service facility. With a full repair shop and parts department, we take care of all your power equipment needs from sale to repair, homeowner to professional contractor. Our power equipment center specializes in premium quality equipment including Stihl, Wright Mowers, Simplicity, Toro, Snapper, SnapperPro and Honda , Briggs & Stratton Home standby generators , Briggs and Stratton power products. We are proud to be an Elite Stihl Dealer and have a full selection of all Stihl products, making us one of the largest "Stihl Concept Stores" in our region.

Our Industrial Commercial Supply division offers a full service sales and delivery staff to meet the needs of area businesses. We offer on site delivery and service as well as internet catalog orders. Our Rental Department includes over 300 items for our do-it-yourself customers. We currently employ 22 staff members.

In early 2019, we made the decision to return to our Ace Hardware roots and family. The final transformation is on track to be completed by early fall 2020. This decision wasn’t made lightly but was made with the mindset that by returning to Ace Hardware, we could offer our loyal customers a more vast variety of products and services with a much wider and better variety of savings. With our new paint and color mixing equipment, we offer a full line of quality paint products and can custom prepare any paint color. You’ll also be able to take advantage of our new Duracell Key machine that can create a variety of newer fob type keys. You’ll also see new product lines coming in, such as Benjamin Moore, Craftsman, Ego Battery Equipment products and Yeti to name a few. You, our customers, are always our top priority.
