Photo Acrylic Art Images
The creation of Photo Acrylic Art Images starts first and foremost with my original Photography. My work is currently focusing on the photography of wildlife, landscapes and whatever inspires me. Some of my work has received national recognition from the World Wildlife Federation and has been published in numerous media outlets. Though photography is not my full-time job,
it is my passion. I was drawn to photography as a form of artistic expression more than 30 years ago, when I was first inspired by the beauty of the Grand Canyon as a child. Years later, using a relatively unused artistic medium, I am displaying my Photos on Acrylic. These original images are first printed on photo quality metallic paper and then mounted to an acrylic block in a process called Diasec, or acrylic face mounting. The acrylic face mounting, developed over 45 years ago in the Netherlands, is more laborious and difficult method of creating acrylic art than simply printing directly on the acrylic. The result, in my opinion, yield a richer image and higher quality work of art. So what’s the big deal with acrylic face mounting you ask? If I could boil it down to really two key differentiators I’d say the first is that acrylic has unique properties that allow light to refract within the acrylic, illuminating the image in the ideal light. This is unique to the acrylic medium and isn’t something that glass can provide as light simply passes through. Second, the image is the star in this presentation with zero distraction from a frame around the image or any kind of hardware such as standoff bolts in the corner. To complete the sleek, modern look we use a special cleat hanging method to give the impression that the image is floating on your wall. Photo Acrylic Art Images - a truly unique and original art form.
