Frank started working with stained glass windows in the 1970s, while employed by a fellow in Michigan who had an architectural salvage business. This man had a storefront that sold all kinds of items such as doors, light fixtures, hardware (hinges, doorknobs, etc.), as well as decorative things like newel posts, woodwork and stained glass windows. Frank was attracted to the stained glass windows a
nd eventually started collecting his own, which he sold on commission. He started learning to do repair work on these windows and built new frames for them when needed. Along the way, he made contacts with a lot of people in the window business (buyers, sellers, collectors). In the early 2000s, Frank met his wife to-be Nancy, and moved his business to Oregon. Nancy, a multi-talented artist whose repertoire includes painting, sculpture, graphic design and fused glass works, understood and shared his passion for stained glass. The pair married in December 2001, merged their lives and talents, and the rest is AASGW history. Once settled in Oregon, Frank began selling windows on Ebay and investing the profits back into buying more windows. With the continued success of his business and increase in demand came the need for a website, so he taught himself and built www.aasgw.com. In addition to conducting his business from their property in rural Oregon, Frank travels several times a year back to the Midwest to visit old contacts, buying windows from auctions and dealers during these business trips. Today, his inventory consists of over 1,000 windows and continues to grow, as does his passion for Antique American Stained Glass Windows.
