Art challenge day one. I was nominated by Justin Worton and nominate Chris Cheney although I’m sure he been nominatedalready. . Show us some of your work, art, or lifestyle for 10 days.

For day one let me introduce myself to those who don’t know me. I’m Nate Eliason I live in Southeast Idaho. I am only part time at leather work (late nights & early mornings)Most the rest of my time is my “real” job is working on the family ranch. I am married to an amazing woman and have 2 great kids. We are also building a house right now taking up a lot of time. I started leather work when I was in high school and tinkered with it for awhile until in 2017 I wanted to get serious with so I win an apprenticeship with the Idaho Council for the Arts for saddle making. I was able to complete that with master craftsman Chris Cheney. Since then I have built 5 saddles and am just focusing on getting a little better with each one and learning all I can.

Got this saddle buttoned up and gone yesterday to my cousin . Been awhile since I finished one so it was good to get another one done. Caleb had a lot of big ideas and expectations for this one and I’m glad he did. he really pushed me out of my comfort zone on this and pushed me in a lot of other ways on and I’m super excited with how it turned out. Still not perfect but a good step in the right direction.
