Meet Holley. She's 3rd generation working with SBS. Enjoy this brief interview with her:
What’s something about working here that people on the outside might not realize?
"I think people don't always realize how many moving parts there are behind the scenes to get a job done. Customers see the trucks arrive and the materials get delivered, but there's a lot of coordination between dispatch, drivers, the different plants, and the office to make sure everything runs smoothly. Even on the accounting side, there's a lot that goes into keeping orders, invoices, payments, and customer accounts organized. It really takes everyone working together to keep things moving."
What’s the most rewarding part of working with family every day?
"The best part is liking my coworkers lol, but really its getting to be part of something that means more than just a job. There's a lot of history, hard work, and pride behind a family business, and it's rewarding to contribute to something that's been built over time. We get to celebrate the successes together, learn from one another, and work toward the same goals. It also makes you appreciate the people behind the business, the hardworking women who support the financial aspects of the workload, and gives some nice perspective about what it takes to keep it operating smoothly."
Who or what has been the biggest help to you since you started?
"The people around me have been the biggest help. Having coworkers and family members who are willing to answer questions, share their knowledge, and help me learn has made a big difference. I'm still learning new things all the time, and that support has helped me grow in my role."
If you could trade jobs with anyone else at SBS for just one day, who would it be? "I'd probably trade jobs with one of our salesmen for the day! It would be fun to get out of the office, visit job sites, and go to lunch with customers. Plus, getting to know customers outside of emails and phone calls would be a nice change of pace. I think I'd enjoy that side of the business for a day!"
