βοΈ June Safety Reminder from the Interlachen Area Volunteer Fire Department π
As summer arrives in Putnam County, the Interlachen Area Volunteer Fire Department would like to remind everyone to stay safe while enjoying the warmer weather.
π₯ Outdoor Burning
* Check local burn restrictions before burning.
* Never leave a fire unattended.
* Keep a water source and shovel nearby.
* Avoid burning on windy days.
π‘οΈ Heat Safety
* Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
* Take frequent breaks when working outdoors.
* Wear light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
* Check on elderly neighbors and family members.
π Fire Safety at Home
* Test smoke alarms monthly.
* Replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older.
* Make sure carbon monoxide alarms are working properly.
* Review your familyβs home escape plan and meeting place.
π Fireworks Safety
* Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
* Keep children away from fireworks and sparklers.
* Have a bucket of water or hose nearby if fireworks are being used.
π Travel Safety
* Buckle up every trip, every time.
* Never drive distracted.
* Never drink and drive.
πΎ Protect Pets
* Ensure pets have shade and fresh water.
* Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
