We are excited to be partnering with the Iowa Labor Center in their Quality Preapprenticeship Program. Join us for an informational session next Thursday at 6:30p at NCIC.

FREE TRAINING and connection to a career in the trades from the University of Iowa Labor Center -- This is a 5-week introduction to over a dozen skilled construction trades.

It meets 3 times a week at Dream City IA – Tuesday night, Thursday night, and Saturday (15 total classes). It’s completely free and snacks + Saturday lunch will be provided.

Participants get a lot--for FREE! You will leave with OSHA 10 certification, CPR/1st Aid certification, a tour of area registered apprenticeship training centers, interview skills preparation, direct connection with guest speakers who are training and union leaders in the trades, blueprint reading introduction, and more.

Following the class, there will also be assistance to obtain a job and entry to one of the state-of-the-art registered apprenticeship training programs in our area, and they can access our tools library to get starter tools they need. The apprenticeship training programs help place people are all jointly run by unions and contractors, and pay living wages, full and free health insurance, pension contributions, an emphasis on safety, and free earn-as-you learn onsite and classroom training with no tuition.

All the trades are currently starting people at wages of at least $20 per hour without experience, sometimes as high as $30 per hour.
