Water sustains us all. Today, October 15th, is Imagine a Day Without Water.

Take a minute to think about it: how many times have you already used water since you woke up this morning? Now imagine how different your day would have been if the water had not flowed when you turned on your faucet.

A day without water, looking at the bigger picture: There is no fire protection. Hospitals can’t care for patients. Nursing homes can’t care for residents. Construction trades are needed now more than ever. KIDS Building Michigan is a 501(c)3 organization with the goal of kids gaining interest in the construction trades to offset the shortage of workers (and having FUN while doing it!)

Michigan Pipe & Valve is proud to participate again in this year’s event!

This was a fun-filled day of construction where kids can experience the world of skilled trades as industry professionals came together in one place to educate, inspire, and showcase the many opportunities within construction, including live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and the chance to ask questions directly to the experts.

This was more than just a “touch-a-truck” event. Kids had the opportunity to operate equipment, try shingling a roof, dig in the sand, build, create, and play. Kids and families of all ages from 0 to 110 were welcome to come explore, learn, and have fun together.

For teenagers and young adults, this event was a chance to explore real pathways into the trades, meet companies offering summer jobs, internships, apprenticeships, and career guidance, learn about scholarship opportunities, trade schools, and training programs that help launch a successful future in construction.

KBM’s mission goes beyond one day of fun. They are building the next generation of skilled trades professionals by opening doors, creating connections, and showing young people the incredible opportunities that exist right here in our communities.
