At the Moniteau County Recognition Day, the Moniteau County 4-H Council was pleased to present the 2022 Pam Jones Volunteer Award to Mr. Steve Sanning!
Since he volunteered in 2011, Steve has mentored and passed on his skills and love of woodworking to almost 40 kids that have passed through Busy Bees 4-H club over the last 11+ years. Steve has not only helped all these kids create amazing woodworking projects, he has also mentored each of these kids and taught skills to them that otherwise most of them would have not had the opportunity to learn.
Steve schedules his days off work to make sure each child in his program has enough time to learn multiple tools in the woodworking trade and how to safely operate each item, he also teaches techniques to make each woodworking project not only something they can be proud to enter into the Moniteau County Fair and Missouri State fair, but a project most 4-H children proudly display in their homes and are items that will last a lifetime and will be enjoyed and talked about for years to come!
Steve also has a long-standing relationship with Cardwell Hardwoods out of St. Martins, Missouri and other business in this field. Due to Steve’s longstanding relationship as a customer and working relationship with these businesses over the years he has been able to obtain high quality, rare and expensive wood pieces for most of these projects for little or no cost to the parents of the children creating these 4-H projects! His diligence and commitment to the youth of our community and making sure each child that comes through his class leaves with an item they can be proud of while learning skills that will influence their futures!
