This is a well-executed barndominium exterior — and proof the metal envelope never limits the look.

Board-and-batten steel, standing seam roof, twin vented cupolas, full wraparound porch. The clean rooflines and that uninterrupted porch run are the steel frame doing what wood can't on this budget.

Design for the look you want. Build it on a frame that won't fight you.

Insulation is critical, do it right the first time.

Keep a gap between the insulation and the metal panels, you can do this by stapling some hvac duct strapping to the back of the 2x4 walls

I was framed! Framing the interior of your barndo is critical it is done correctly. Here are a few tips:

1. Build your walls on the floor first then stand them up
2. Don’t attach Sheetrock directly to the metal frame - they have potential to flex and sway
3. Protect your bottom plate from concrete moisture
4. Leave a gap between the frame and the metal shell

Bottom line: This is a well-executed barndominium. The designer understood the building type and leaned into it rather than apologizing for it with cosmetic patches.

Spiral HVAC ducts, full mezzanine, reclaimed wood, 20 ft ceilings - you can pull this off inside a pre-engineered metal building envelope. A stick-frame builder would fight you on this budget.
