First and foremost, congratulations to the Kingfisher Yellowjackets! 4A Academic and State Champions, what an achievement not only on the basketball court but also in the classroom. Success breeds success and with a 107-4 record for the Seniors, there has been a lot of success. A team can’t achieve this type of success without great, coachable players, coaches who bring it every single day setting the example, and a community that supports and rallies behind their team. As I sat in the Ron Norick Arena last evening, the team walked into the locker room down 27-20. There was no concern on their faces, they knew there was still another half of basketball and there was never a question in their minds that if they executed the plans the coaches provided and kept working, the result would be 4A State Champions. Congratulations to Coach Reese, Coach Combs, and Coach Green on your success and mentorship of these young men.
My family moved to Kingfisher in September 2018. Shana and I chose to move to Kingfisher for various reasons. We were both raised in smaller communities and appreciate the values developed, the work ethic engrained, and the support of a community in places like Kingfisher. Our oldest child, Reagan, graduated from high school at a larger school in the Oklahoma City area and although we appreciated the education received and friendships developed, there was little to no community. Our two youngest, Cooper and Cade, began school in Kingfisher Public Schools in the Fall of 2018. Cooper drove to Kingfisher from Oklahoma City his junior year of high school while renovations to our home were being completed and Cade began his 7th-grade year in Kingfisher in 2018. We very much appreciate the Kingfisher Public School system and each of the administrators and teachers' investment in our children.
The reason I chose to run for the seat of City Commissioner is to pay back some of what my family has received in the last few years in Kingfisher. I will work tirelessly to provide insight based on my experience and perspective along with the Mayor and other Commissioners to invest in this city and move it forward working collaboratively with the Chamber of Commerce and all citizens. My career as an engineer has afforded me experiences requiring difficult decisions affecting thousands of people. Difficult decisions must be made and collaboration with others with different experiences and possibly different interests are necessary to arrive at the best possible outcomes. My engineering background, as stated in my bio, was developed initially working with cities like Kingfisher dealing with critical needs, ensuring compliance with safe drinking water standards, wastewater requirements, and maintenance of arterial, collector and local roads. I currently sit on the Board of Directors at CEC Corporation, serve on the ODOT (Oklahoma Department of Transportation) /ACEC OK (American Council of Engineering Companies) steering committee, formerly served on the OAPA (Oklahoma Asphalt Pavement Association) Board, serve on the steering committee at OAPA, among other service boards and committees. Serving alongside others has allowed me the experience to work well with others in making difficult decisions. Decisions to move our community forward starts with proper planning, input from citizens, and ex*****on of those plans and ideas. I have the experience working with others to develop plans and ultimately implement and construct those plans.
I humbly ask for your vote on April 6th to serve the community of Kingfisher and be a representative voice for you.
