Built in 1875 by Thomas DeJean and his son Anson, the store has played a critical role throughout the history of La Farge. Located on the southwest corner of Main & State Streets in La Farge, the DeJean building was the first to be built in wha

t is now La Farge. At the time, this intersection was known as “The Corners” where two Native American trails crossed. The DeJean building literally became the birthplace of La Farge in 1899 when a referendum to incorporate La Farge as a village was held in Neefe’s Hall, a large room in the front of the second story.
