I'm really aching to get the shop cleaned up and to start doing projects. However, a leaky basement has taken priority. The previous home owner told me what they thought was the problem, but after getting that fixed I found out they were completely wrong. I'm gonna estimate my basement is about 800 sqft give or take. I've discovered various cracks, holes and leaking areas along the footing perimeter. Smh. I've spent the last few days doing my best to seal the obvious spots I can identify with hydrolic cement. However, it hardens very fast, so I can only do a few inches at a time since I'm dealing with active leaks at the moment. Though it's been about a week since our last (heavy) rain, the clay soil is showing no mercy on draining the area approx 7 foot below the surface. I even checked my water meter because at one point I thought I might have a busted line somewhere. Luckily, I don't think I do, I'm just fighting the elements. After just a few days, I think this project is going to take atleast a few weeks to actually finish. After filling the active leak areas I can find, I also plan on skim coating around the footing for a little reassurance. I'll have to use an angle grinder with a diamond blade to remove any paint, and I'll also want to ensure a good clean surface (trust me there's dirt every where due to the outside soil coming in with the water). I also have q furnace, water heater, and washer and dryer that will all need to be moved away from the walls so I can seal the footers behind them. The floors also are not level and I'm nearly considering fixing that sooner than later because I feel once I get it dry I'll want to put a lot of stuff down there.
