New technology makes prototyping so much easier—and a lot more fun!

Patrick and I have wanted to tweak our P90 pump for over a decade. It was originally designed around an American-made two-stroke engine back in the late 1980s that produced about 1.8 horsepower, as I recall. About ten years ago, we switched to the 2-horsepower Tecumseh TC300, and today we’re using a Honda with similar power.

Now we can experiment with different impeller sizes and cuts to see how much more performance we can get out of this little pump. It’s a project we’ve wanted to tackle for years, and the new prototyping technology makes trying different ideas much easier!

This is one unique custom package! We built this booster jet for a specialized reclamation system designed to uncover lost airplanes, boats, and human remains from past wars and battles.

The long tube is a 6" power jet with dual 3" connections and 6" NPT threads on both ends. To connect to the customer’s 6" pump, we also fabricated custom reducers with roughly one-quarter the weight and bulk of comparable off-the-shelf steel fittings—and at a lower cost.

The smooth transitions in our fabricated steel bells and splitters are designed to improve water flow, reduce turbulence, and boost performance.

At Keene Engineering, we build custom pump adapters and pumping systems for unusual applications, making them lighter, more efficient, and better suited to the job. Have a challenging project? Let’s see what we can build!

At Keene Engineering, we’re always thinking outside the box to build a better sluice box!

This big box measures 34 inches wide by 16 feet long and is designed for dredging the beaches of Nome, Alaska.

One of its key features is an innovative adjustable classification system that can be fine-tuned on the fly while the dredge is running, allowing operators to adapt to changing material conditions without stopping production.

The system also features dual 2.5-inch sump intakes and dual extended side boxes—all part of our ongoing effort to improve gold recovery through practical, innovative designs.

Hydraulic power turns our PHP500 into a monster pump!

At Keene Engineering, we manufacture custom reclamation dredges and pumping systems for unusual applications. This hydraulically driven PHP500 is a great example!

Powered by a hydraulic motor using approximately 11 GPM at 2,500 PSI, this package delivers serious pumping power. We build these pumps for heavy-duty service with oversized bearings, a hardened shaft, and rugged construction.

With sufficient hydraulic flow and pressure, this pump should be capable of producing up to 160 feet of head.

Have an unusual pumping application? Let’s build a system to tackle it!
