Congratulations!
HRL Laboratories Senior Research Engineer Binh-Minh (Minh) Nguyen, PhD, has been elected a Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) for 2023. New Fellows of the Society are promoted each year from among SPIE members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics, and imaging. Fellows are honored for their technical achievements and service to the optics community in general and SPIE in particular.
"I am honored to be named an SPIE Fellow. This is really thanks to the excellent career opportunity and strong foundation that HRL offers for us to grow professionally," said Nguyen, who now joins more than 1,700 SPIE members who became Fellows since the Society's inception in 1955. "This recognition is also a testimonial of HRL’s high technical caliber, and I am certain many other HRL staff members also deserve this rank."
Dr. Nguyen has been in the Sensors and Electronics Laboratory at HRL Laboratories since 2014. He has been Program Manager or Principal Investigator for more than 15 programs on infrared detectors and quantum materials. He is also known for his active contribution to the community as a program committee member for several technical conferences, a proposal reviewer for various agencies, and a mentor coaching many staff members. Nguyen is also a member of HRL's pilot Ombuds team committed to facilitating communications and assisting individuals in resolving work-related conflicts.
