Do you know the difference between seismic and non-seismic used pallet racks? The difference is that you will not get a permit to set them up in your location unless they are American made with the manufacturer's stamp on the front of the uprights and beams and the current seismic design. Older pallet rack uprights with a standard footplate will not pass. Nor will older beams with 2 pin connectors on each end. Without a permit the racks are illegal in California because CA is earthquake prone and the state requires a building permit to set up shelving or racks higher than 5'8". And they must be anchored to the ground with anchors not made in China. Beware buying racks from catalogs that are American made but not made for CA earthquake standards. In some cities like Concord a double upright column (called backers) may be required front and back due to the confluence of fault lines nearby. Chinese made racks have no quality control so they won't get a permit because no engineer will put his wet stamp on the calculations required by the permit dept. in your city or county. Every time there is a major earthquake in CA, they change the earthquake resistant standards to take care of the rack failures that occurred. Used racks cannot keep up with those changes. 925-348-1244.
We just bought some used pallet racks that are seismic design/earthquake resistant, American made, and the most popular sizes: 12'h x 42"d uprights, 8' long x 4" beams, and 42"d x 46"w wire decks....
