Project Spotlight 🏡 Old Hickory, Tennessee

This home in Old Hickory, TN was built by Stillwater Homes and wrapped in ACRE siding. It has the warm grain of real wood, made from upcycled rice hulls with zero trees cut. The siding resists rot, moisture and insects, and it takes stain or paint like real wood because there’s no plastic cap.

Great work, Stillwater Homes. Supplied by Timbertown.

Houses made from rice? BBC Future says yes, and ACRE is in the story. 🌾

In Park City, Utah, a condo community's siding was starting to rot under months of heavy snow, and wildfire season added another worry. They wanted the look of real wood with more staying power. Builder David Fine chose ACRE and says it checked every box. He also points to lower long-term maintenance thanks to its resistance to moisture, sun, and fire.

Made from upcycled rice hulls. Tree-free. Stainable like wood.

Thank you, BBC Future, for sharing our story! Read the full feature:

A notoriously stubborn agricultural waste product, rice husk is now being repurposed as a sturdy and resilient construction material.

Imagine stepping out of a meeting and onto a terrace high above Manhattan, surrounded by plants, sunlight, and fresh air.

That’s the idea behind the wellness balconies and private terraces at JPMorgan Chase’s new global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue, and we’re honored that our ACRE decking and benches are part of it. 🌾

The building, designed by Foster + Partners, uses biophilic design to connect people with nature. ACRE fits right in: it has the natural look and feel of wood, but it’s made from upcycled rice hulls, so no trees were cut down to make it.

Big news for the next generation of climbers! 🌾 Modern Mill has partnered with GameTime, a playground maker communities have trusted since 1929, to bring ACRE to playgrounds across the country.
