In September 2021, the remnants of Hurricane Ida swept Perkasie Borough's 1832 covered bridge off its abutments in Lenape Park, PA.

Residents had saved this Town Lattice truss style bridge from demolition in 1958, and the National Park Service added it to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Following the Hurricane Ida damage, the borough is rehabilitating the bridge, and helical piles were selected for the deep foundation replacement.

EAS's Geotechnical Engineer, Ryan Zhang, P.E., recommended 12 CHANCE RS2875.203 round shaft helical piles with 8", 10" lead configurations.

Eastern Highway Specialists installed the piles with a Pro-Dig drive head and CHANCE digital torque indicator. They completed the installation on time and on schedule.

On this new construction home addition, CHANCE SS5 helical piles are being installed directly through saturated sandy soil conditions.

Compact installation equipment made it possible to work beneath the existing home and alongside neighboring properties with minimal disturbance. Because the piles can be installed in a wide range of environments, the crew was able to keep the project moving forward and on schedule.

Timber piles were not an option on this one.

Construction has begun on a new residential apartment building on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, NY. The location sits in a densely populated area, where timber piles would have disrupted the surrounding structures. Helical piles install with no vibration.

The soil profile was challenging with a high water table and soft soil over dense rocky soil. Ryan Zhang, EAS' Geotechnical Engineer, recommended 77 round shaft helical piles at a depth of 15 feet. EAS' Phil Brackett recommended the DIGGA 30K drive head for its speed of installation and the capacity needed to drive the piles to depth.

Gorman Fence, LLC., a fencing contractor in Killingworth, CT, wanted to add decks to its service list.

Gorman Fence owner Kevin Gorman chose helical piles from Earth Anchoring Suppliers. He wanted the flexibility to work on his own schedule and a streamlined process.

Diana Rossi, New England Territory Manager, EAS - led a 2.5 hour CHANCE University field training focused on how foot-pounds of torque translate to pile compression capacity. Brian Kipila, Field Training Specialist, EAS, added additional training support.

Diana Rossi went back to Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, CT, three years after this project wrapped up.

Earth Anchoring supplied CHANCE RS2875.203 helical piles for this beachfront boardwalk's foundation. It begins at the entrance to West Beach by the railroad bridge, then continues along the shoreline and train tracks, and crossing over Bride Brook. Its extremely flat surface gives people of all ages, including strollers and wheelchairs, easy access to view the shoreline.

Construction in Norwalk, CT is underway for a new luxury residential property positioned along the waterfront of the Norfolk River Reach channel.

36 grouted high-capacity, 2-7/8 in. round-shaft helical piles were selected because they provide a deep foundation solution well-suited to the range of soil conditions commonly encountered at coastal sites.
