Hands on learning at its finest!! Just a few pics from the machine shop today. Intro to Metals students are creating projects on the lathes and mills that they designed. Machine Tool Dual Credit students are working on projects designed by NTC. We are excited to be working in our much needed larger space!!

Yesterday we traveled up to AWI (Advanced Welding Institute) in Eagle River where we competed in a weld competition/job interview. Although we fell just short of placing in the weld competition, we swept the job interview portion of the competition. Congratulations to Eva (1st place 🏆), Nolan (2nd place 🏆), and Jerry (3rd place 🏆).
Thank you AWI for hosting the event. You were very accommodating and helpful giving our students the feedback they need to continue their growth.
Congratulations to all the students from other schools. Although we are competing against each other, it’s great seeing students interact with each other and make new friends!!

Adam continues to challenge himself in the weld shop. He cut some scrap pipe, beveled it, tacked it with a root opening, and is now on his 3rd pass around the pipe with Tig. Great job Adam!!!

Carter and Cooper did an excellent job on their first woods projects. They not only learned new things but helped lead others. Excellent work both of you!

Today we highlight a student who is a continuous learner, problem solver, teacher, and respected young man who makes a difference in all aspects of Teched. Kaeden Ludwig is our Basic Woodworking Student Leader Mentor for Semester 1, 2026. Kaeden goes above and beyond and is a true inspiration and important addition to the shop. Kaeden not only takes on problem-solving to build and store things out of limited supplies at his disposal, but he works with the students like a seasoned pro. Last week, alongside working with the students, he planned and built a moving clamp rack for us out of scrap and miscellaneous material.
