Ed and Lori Taranovich opened Ed's Hardware in 1977, located in Mount View Plaza on Rubber Avenue in Ed's hometown of Naugatuck, CT. In the early years Ed's had to compete with four other local hardware stores. Lori would run the store, while Ed would be performing on site services, such as painting and wallpapering. With a friendly staff, often, including their five children and several of their

grandchildren, Ed's Hardware prospered. The focus on friendly and knowledgable customer service, along with determination and hard work paid off as Ed’s Hardware outlived all the local competition and survived the arrival of big box stores. They are currently the only hardware store in Naugatuck and have cornered the the market in neighboring towns like Prospect and Middlebury. In 2006 Ed and Lori moved the business out of Mount View Plaza to 560 Rubber Avenue, gaining about 3,000 additional square feet of space. And after 37 years in the business Ed and Lori decided to sell the store and retire. In July 2013 Ed's daughter, Tracey and her husband, Bob purchased the store keeping the business in the family. Both Tracey and Bob were working as mail carriers for the United States Postal Service when they decided to purchase the store. Bob interest and skill in craftsmanship developed from watching his father work on various projects as a child. It gives me the opportunity to do that. I’m not the kind of person to sit behind a desk. So it fits who I am.” - Bob Dillistin

Some changes have been implemented under the new ownership. There is some new inventory as well as a small engine repair service, a trade that Bob Dillistin is certified in.

Bob and Tracey have continued Ed and Lori's dedication to serving the borough of Naugatuck. They have kept the same knowledgable staff (several of which a family members) and continue to maintain the same focus on customer service that Ed's Hardware has long been known for.

As spring has sprung we have been very busy here at Ed’s tending to all our customers lawn care and gardening needs.

So busy we have not introduced our newest employee, GUS!

He has been with us over 3 months abd many have already had the pleasure of meeting him. He belongs to the owners daughter, Devin, and her family, so he only works part time. His primary tasks are greeting customers, bringing smiles to our customers faces, cleaning up crumbs, and acting as a speed bump or barricade (he sleeps A LOT). He’s only 5 months old and still learning and GROWING. He is our super sweet gentle giant. We love you Gus!

Friendly and energetic retail associate.
Must be a quick learner and hard worker.
Basic knowledge in residential electrical, plumbing, and home maintenance.
Basic knowledge of tools and hardware
Basic knowledge about gardening, lawn care and landscaping.
Ability to learn POS system to complete customer transactions.
Will be responsible for answering phones and helping customers.
Responsible for stocking inventory.
Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
Salary dependent on experience.
This will be a part time position with the opportunity for a full time based on performance.
Requires some flexibility in schedule. Weekdays and some weekends may be required.

Must be 21 years of age or over.

Hello Ed's customers,

We have had an increasing number of customers coming into the store looking for products they claim to have seen "in stock" on our website, then the product is not in the store. We would like to clarify how the website works.
-https://edshardware.doitbest.com/ is our website. The products on our site are the products that are available to us in our warehouse. These are not a reflection of our inventory and at no point can it be assumed these are physically in stock. This is why a "Same Day Pickup" is not an option on that site as are some other retailers. Our store front is simply too small to allow this option.

-You may look through the products to determine what you want, then call us at (203)729-8216 to see if it is in stock. and/or

-You can order the product online to have it shipped to our store the following week to save cost on shipping.

-You may also choose to have the item shipped to your home. With this option, you are ordering directly from our warehouse, owned by Do It Best, and Ed's Hardware holds no responsibility for your purchase.
