The ARRI/Zeiss Ultra 16s are built for serious Super 16 work. Razor-sharp across the frame, with a fast T1.3 for smooth, clean bokeh. Chromatic aberration is minimal, focus breathing is nearly invisible, and the color matches perfectly with the Ultra and Master Prime family. Compact, precise, and made to get the most out of every millimeter of that S16 frame.

“Handheld Films has been a place throughout my career that I’ve always been able to count on. The staff has always been knowledgeable in areas that I was not, and they always took the time to show me how to use certain things or problem solve certain issues. They’re also one of the only rental houses that truly strives to keep their gear up to date and they make sure they’re giving everyone the top of the line gear. They’ve always been helpful and they’ve always had my back. They’ve made shoots possible that I didn’t think would be.” - Ciecierski

“I like older glass and ended up with the Canon K35s on an ARRI Alexa Mini LF because the skin looked so good on the ARRI sensor when we projected it. The film has such a microscopic view of skin and beauty, I needed to keep it as clean and natural as possible. I chose the K35s because of the drop off – not even shot wide open, but at 2.8 or 4 –  and because they’re vintage lenses it really helped when shooting against that softdrop.” -

For our next Scene Recreation, we chose the award winning film The Substance.

We recreated the scene using the Arri Alexa Mini LF 4.3 16:9 with Canon K53 55mm and Leica-R 100mm Apo-Macro lenses, along with the Aputure 1000c w/ Medium Reflector for lighting.

“The Zeiss lenses look natural with film as they’re fast, T1.3 across the whole range, I knew they would be good for shooting in different low or available light situations. This was really helpful, as I did not want to have to compensate by over-lighting and lose the reality of the scene.” - DP Sayombhu Mukdeeprom

For our next Scene Recreation, we chose the award winning film Challengers.

We recreated the scene using the Arri Alexa 35 with Zeiss Super Speed 50mm lenses, along with the SkyPanel X, Amaran 150c, and ArriLite 2000 for lighting.

“…I like to be close and intimate and in with the lenses to really sort of feel the pause, feel the breadth of the people and not just observe them.” -

For our first Scene Recreation we chose the film award winning film Conclave, which is currently nominated for Best Drama Film at the .

Our HHF Team recreated the scene using a Red Monstro 8K with a Blackwing7 107mm B-tuned lens.

Now in House: Bausch & Lomb Baltars & the Angenieux Type R2 18.5mm, rehoused by Zero Optik.

Designed in the late 1930s and representing the first cohesive set of cinema primes to be manufactured in the US.

With the combination of field curvature, single-layer coatings, and primitive glass polishing techniques create images unlike anything modern glass is capable of without sacrificing clarity or resolution.

Rounding out the set on the wide end, we also have Angenieux Type R2 18.5mm T2.4, which was released in 1951.

Rent from us today!

*152mm will be available in the coming weeks!
