Made my first Cedar 'Urn' box today.
My stepson's girlfriend unfortunately lost her mother this past Wednesday and they wanted some of their grandfather's ashes placed inside the casket with her so they may always be together. So they asked if I would make a small box for them.

This box is 5" x 3". Wording was burned in and given a black finish. And while this is a very simple design, it holds a very precious treasure.

(Discoloration on unfinished lid is from wiping off with a damp cloth)

Hey peeps.. been a while. Haven't been able to work on any projects for a little while.
My cedar work has been at a stand still due to losing my normal supplier (and the covid crap)
My sewing has been put away for now due to doing some home remodeling.
My crocheting has slowed due to the hot weather as well.
Guess I need to plan my projects a little better. Lol

I do want to say that I have found another cedar supplier and should be starting my woodwork back up again once our house gets situated. Once I do, I won't be doing any custom pieces for a while..that way I can get my own ideas done and out there first.
I'll be working on my sewing/crocheting projects in between wood projects so hopefully I'll have a nice variety of things to share with everyone.

Thank you to all who have stayed with me and checked in every now and again. You are all much appreciated. 😊❤️

Newest *Warm Hugs* project completed.

This is a large, soft & warm Queen size afghan/blanket. -shown on a Queen size bed-
It is made using Bernat blanket/baby blanket yarn in the colors of Baby Sand and Sand Castles. The ripple/Chevron pattern is of my own design.
It is made to allow for @ a 6-8 inch overhang on the sides and bottom.
(White line in the right middle pic is to show where the edge of the bed is and what hangs over)

*Price for a handmade blanket this large (due to size, amount & type of yarn and time to make) is $250.

Hello my Peeps.. it's been a little while since I've shared anything.
With life being the crazy hot mess it is, my projects have been spread out among several different mediums.
Due to all the mess with covid, I have lost my cedar supplier and have yet been able to find one so my lovely boxes/wood works are on hold for now. I do have a few that are unfinished, or need refinishing and hope to have those available later this summer.

I had applied my sewing skills to the ever popular 'diy mask making' and have since moved on to use my materials for better things. I have made several quilted bags and totes and will have many more 'sewing' projects to share as well.

Right now I am working with my crocheting skills and creating some very soft and warm throws and blankets. Those range from baby/toddler size, full size throw blankets and large Queen size (bed) blankets. Some have the feel of a weighted blanket. The Queen size ones topping out at @ 5 1/2-6 1/2 pounds each- when folded up.
These I have dubbed my "Warm Hug" collection. So named by my hubby describing them as 'being wrapped in a soft, warm hug'.

Like with anything of a creative mind, some things take time to create (and in my case.. perfect) but I promise everything will be beautiful and made to the best of my ability and would be a welcome treasure..no matter what it is.. to those who aquire it. 😊
