📌 Choosing the right door hinge is never just a matter of matching a size. It is a technical decision based on the physical conditions of the door.

The taller, thicker, and heavier the door, the higher the requirements for hinge load capacity, stability, and long-term durability.

Different door types require different hinge sizes:
🔷 Standard interior doors:typically use 3.5-inch hinges
🔷 Entry doors / exterior doors:usually require 4-inch hinges due to increased thickness and weight
🔷 Fire-rated doors / heavy-duty doors: often require 4.5–5-inch hinges, or even continuous hinges

Beyond size, hinge quantity is equally critical.

Different jamb configurations are not just structural differences — they are selected based on door function, installation requirements, and even regional preferences.

🔷 Single Rabbeted Jamb
An L-shaped frame with a single rabbet, commonly used for exterior doors or fire-rated door assemblies. It is typically paired with weatherstripping or seals to improve air tightness and meet performance requirements.

🔷 Double Rabbeted Jamb
A stepped profile on both sides of the frame, creating a more enclosed structure for the door. It is widely used in interior applications where a tighter fit and a more finished look are preferred.

🔷 Split Jamb
A two-piece adjustable frame system designed to accommodate different wall thicknesses. It is often selected when on-site flexibility is needed, especially in projects where wall conditions vary.

🔷 Flat Jamb
A flat frame profile without a built-in rabbet, commonly used in door systems such as bi-fold doors, pocket doors, and sliding doors. These systems typically do not rely on traditional stop-based closure, making flat jambs a more suitable and simplified solution.
