Maxwell Supply Company Building Habitat’s First Cornerstone Creek House on Saturday Morning at New Affordable-Housing Addition
OKLAHOMA CITY (May 31, 2024) – Maxwell Supply Company is a longtime and valued partner of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity (COHFH) that has made the donations and supplied the volunteers necessary over the years to construct six houses in Central Oklahoma for the Christian-housing ministry.
Maxwell Supply Company plans again to swing a hammer for Habitat by framing the first house at COHFH’s Cornerstone Creek, the nonprofit’s newest and largest-ever affordable-housing development beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday (June 1, 2024) at N.W. 150th Street and Morgan Road in Oklahoma City.
Maxwell Supply Company President Charlie Thomason said about 20 Maxwell Supply Company volunteers plan to join COHFH’s construction crew and a group of additional volunteers from REMAX for the framing-day event at Cornerstone Creek.
“We love being able to help a neighbor, a friend and a fellow Oklahoman,” Charlie Thomason said. “We understand why Ann Felton Gilliland (COHFH’s chair/CEO) does it. We donate and help build an affordable new home, the homebuyer gets to buy a new house and their purchase helps the next person – pushing it further down the line.”
Maxwell Supply Company sells materials and tools to a variety of customers throughout Oklahoma, including general contractors and to others involved in concrete-flat work and bridge and highway construction. Charlie Thomason said the company has locations in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Lawton, Oklahoma, and plans to open a fourth location in McAlester, Oklahoma, this summer.
“My Dad, Maxwell Supply Company’s Chairman Jerry Thomason plans on coming and cheering on our volunteers a little later on Saturday morning,” Charlie Thomason said. “Around lunchtime, we’ll feed our volunteers smoked meats and other barbeque items. We love doing this with Habitat!
“We’ll have a good day, and we’ll get this new neighborhood off and running.”
Felton Gilliland said COHFH is grateful for Maxwell Supply Company’s leadership, volunteers and appreciates how the company supports Habitat’s belief in working toward a world where everyone has a decent and affordable place to live.
“Maxwell Supply Company helped us build our 1,000th house in 2019, and it is only fitting that such a wonderful company will help build our first house at Cornerstone Creek,” Felton Gilliland said. “They are such excellent partners in helping us to fulfill our mission – seeking to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, grow communities and nurture hope. And we couldn’t be more excited about Cornerstone Creek because when it is complete, it will have 450 affordable, safe and energy-efficient homes, three parks with workout stations and a gazebo, plus Piedmont, Oklahoma’s excellent schools.”
Homebuyer applications for Cornerstone Creek are now being accepted for consideration by Habitat.
