Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work, dedication and contributions of the people who keep our communities moving forward.

At Platte River Concrete Co., we are especially grateful for our incredible team and everything they do each day to serve our customers and help build our communities.

To give our employees time to rest and enjoy the holiday weekend, we will be closed Saturday, September 5, and Monday, September 7.

As temperatures rise, staying hydrated and recognizing the signs of heat-related illness becomes even more important. This week, our focus is on protecting ourselves and our teammates from the dangers of heat stress.

Our Week 4 toolbox talks will cover:
🥱 Fatigue Awareness
🌡️ Heat Exhaustion Warning Signs
💧 Hydration Best Practices

Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly and affect anyone working outdoors. Pay attention to how you're feeling, drink water consistently throughout the day, and don't wait until you're thirsty to hydrate.

⚠️ Watch for warning signs:
• Excessive sweating
• Dizziness
• Muscle cramps
• Nausea
• Headaches
• Unusual fatigue

If you notice symptoms in yourself or a coworker:
✅ Move to a cool area
✅ Hydrate with water and electrolytes
✅ Notify your supervisor immediately

What You'll Do:

✅ Take customer orders and provide outstanding service
✅ Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams
✅ Schedule concrete, sand, and gravel deliveries
✅ Support administrative and clerical functions
✅ Communicate with customers, drivers, and sales teams
✅ Help ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on time

What We're Looking For:

🚨 June is National Safety Month at Platte River Concrete Co. 🚨

At Platte River, safety is more than a policy — it’s part of who we are. From the plant to the shop, behind the wheel, and on every job site, we are committed to making sure every employee goes home safe every day.

Throughout June, we’ll be focusing on:
🔴 PPE & Situational Awareness
🔴 Driver & Equipment Safety
🔴 Housekeeping & Injury Prevention
🔴 Heat Stress & Hydration

We’ll also be celebrating our team all month long with popsicles every Friday, snacks and drinks throughout the month, and a BBQ lunch on July 1st to wrap up Safety Month! 🌭☀️🍧
