Hope you had a good and restful Labor Day-eve (Sunday)... Village Hardware will be on-line ("OPEN" for most of us) and READY for YOU tomorrow morning for help with all your "Day-Of-Labor" activities; HOWEVER, we will be closing early so we can retire to the porch for our preferred activities at 2:00 pm. Govern yourself accordingly and make sure you get all those gizmos and gadgets you need before the witching-hour (aka, closing time at 2:00 pm) so you won't be caught short. SEE YOU MONDAY (That is... UNTIL 2:00)!! After 2:00, you are on-your-own!

Hi Folks... We just received a NOTICE from NC about (what else???) FEE INCREASES on boats. If you have a new or renewal registration renewal coming up, get it to us BEFORE OCTOBER 1 to beat the new higher fees!!!

Hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday. Here at Village Hardware we monitor the hurricane outlooks closely. Greg keeps a very close watch on forecasts and keeps us well stocked in-advance for forecast storms. In addition to ordering necessary supplies ahead of upcoming storms, Do It Best keeps at least one full tractor-trailer load of disaster supplies on-call and ready-to-go reserved just for our store here in Oriental. It is staged for us inland at one of the Do It Best warehouse (up-state South Carolina) locations ready-to-roll for anticipated needs. Thankfully, they have not been needed in the last few years; however, things are ready, if needed. They were a lifesaver in Irene and other recent hits!

This year, the forecasters have looked kindly upon us; HOWEVER, even in El Nino years past, some hurricanes have hit us with devastating results! So, we all try to be ready and prepared, no matter the forecast.

At Village Hardware we monitor a number of forecasters. While The Weather Channel is NOT one of our "non-sensationalists" first-call sources, they did just release this review and overview of prior and current-year forecast hurricane activity that we found quite interesting. If you have any interest in weather or hurricane forecasting, it would be interesting-viewing. Late-August is a BIG month for us here in Oriental followed closely by both September and October, even in El Nino years. Take a look...

Well, Greg made a trip to pick up the last of the CRAB POTS for 2026 and was able to get them for this year's price. There has been a DRASTIC price INCREASE notification for 2027 due to rapidly escalating materials costs. Greg got these for 2026 prices; however, these are all we have and when they are all sold, there will not be any more at these prices. If you need CRAB POTS this year or for next year, see Greg or any of the folks at VILLAGE HARDWARE while they are available. "Happy Potting!!"

P.S. Crab Pots keep very well and actually eat very little, so there's NO RISK in stocking up ahead! Just think how smart you will feel in 2027 when you see the prices then! Get them at the "Good Old Days Prices" before they are GONE!!
