I wanted to give you a better look at the layout and the overall vibe of our space. absolutely nailed it with these shots—capturing the big windows, the rustic textures, and the heart of our daily operations.

Watch till the end to see exactly where your custom pieces come to life.

Back for another round with for a workshop focusing on curved European passage doors. It was a great four days collaborating with other seasoned woodworkers on this mahogany door build. Nothing beats trading techniques with people who live and breathe the craft.

Today's a good day to (re)introduce to you the founder, force, and face of The Wood Studio, John Stephenson. Why today? Because it's his Birthday!

John pours his heart and soul into this shop and his work, and he'll do the same for your projects.

He doesn't know I've hijacked his account for this post. Bring a smile to his birthday face with a like and comment, and keep The Wood Studio in mind for your custom woodworking projects. 🎂

When the client takes "inspecting the joinery" to a whole new level.

This is The Oblique № 7 - a custom dining table in White Ash and African Mahogany. From the sliding dovetail tusk-bridle joints to the velvet-smooth solid top, every detail was built to be seen (even from the floor, apparently).

It’s not every day you get a client who appreciates the underside of a table as much as the top.

If you’ve been looking for a custom table or have another project in mind, I’d love to hear about it. Send me a DM and let’s talk about building something for your space.

Trestle time! This dining table build features an African Mahogany trestle that ties the two Ash legs together. The Mahogany tenons are locked into the ash mortises with sliding dovetail tusks on each end. The mechanical joinery and the contrast between the mahogany and ash are making this build a favorite.

The Wadkin mortiser's first official job in my shop! Nothing beats a sharp chisel and a freshly tuned machine. Cutting mortises for the mahogany through-pegs today and couldn't be happier getting to use my new mortiser. Steve did an incredible job getting this dialed in—it’s cutting through quarter sawn ash like butter.

Many people see either cabinetry or furniture, but for me, they’re inseparable. In my current furniture build: I’m leaning on years of cabinetry construction for speed and precision, then switching gears to the quiet of hand tools to fit all of the joinery. It’s the best of both worlds.

Meet Steve! He’s been a great addition to the shop lately, helping out with client builds and fine-tuning the machinery to peak performance. It’s been great having him on board to keep the workflow moving and the equipment dialed in. Glad to have the help, Steve!

Friday is furniture day! Prioritizing focus on a bespoke furniture piece at the end of the week helps me improve my skills as well as remind me why I love this trade.

I brought out the big guns to handle a few Walnut 150mm legs for a kitchen island build.

Normally I run a 350mm blade but today's task called for the 550mm unit. I was very happy when I put the 350mm blade back on.
