🌟 Dory Days Sponsor Spotlight 🌟
Today we want to recognize and give a very special THANK YOU to Pacific City Hardware and Lumber for their Dory Days sponsorship a business that has truly been part of the heart and foundation of our community for generations. ❤️
The Pacific City-Nestucca Valley Chamber of Commerce is incredibly grateful for the continued support of businesses like Pacific City Hardware & Lumber, whose impact on our community reaches far beyond the products on their shelves. Their commitment to serving Pacific City has helped shape our community for over 75 years, and their dedication continues to make a difference every single day.
The story of Pacific City Hardware began in 1950, when Maxine Hooper built the original riverfront building for winter boat storage and her own living quarters. As she began purchasing lumber and supplies for her project, locals soon started asking her to bring materials back for them as well, sparking what would become one of Pacific City’s longest standing local businesses. 🛠️
Over the decades, the business changed hands several times, Bob Higgins and Nellie Higgins in the 1960s, Bob Rissel and Sally Rissel in 1973, who helped expand the business during a major building boom throughout South Tillamook County. In 1998, tragedy struck when a devastating fire destroyed the original store building just days before Christmas. But like so much of Pacific City itself, the business rebuilt stronger relocating across the street and continuing to serve the community without losing its place as a local cornerstone.
Today, under the ownership of Pat Hurliman and Emily Hurliman since 2016, the business has continued evolving into the Pacific City Hardware we know and rely on today. Located in the heart of town at 34995 Brooten Road, Pacific City, Oregon, Pacific City Hardware continues the legacy of service, generosity, and community support that has defined this business for generations. This is far more than a hardware store, it is part of the fabric of our community. 🌲🔨
It is hard to find a home in Pacific City that doesn’t have a little piece of Pacific City Hardware & Lumber in it. From helping with household repairs and building projects, to sponsoring local events, supporting organizations like Dory Days, hiring local youth, and giving back to the community year after year, Pat and the entire team continue to show what true community commitment looks like.
Businesses like Pacific City Hardware remind us what makes small towns special — neighbors supporting neighbors, businesses investing back into the people they serve, and a commitment to preserving the community we all love.
Thank you, Pacific City Hardware & Lumber, for more than seven decades of service, generosity, and unwavering dedication to this community. Your legacy is built into the very foundation of Pacific City, and we are grateful for all that you continue to do. 🙌❤️
