🤖 Build. Compete. Learn.

Join us this Saturday, May 30 at 3:00 PM at Monumental Impact for an informational gathering about our new robotics program: Open Robotics Competition!

Created by Monumental Impact member Mike Hinkle and a team of experienced hobbyists, Open Robotics Competition is designed to make robotics accessible and fun for participants of all ages and experience levels.

Many educational robotics programs are geared toward K–12 students, while combat robotics can be expensive and focused on destructive competition. Open Robotics Competition brings together the best of both worlds: hands-on learning and exciting non-destructive competition in a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced makers alike.

Teams design and build robots to complete game challenges, score points, and work strategically with alliance partners. Success comes from smart design, creativity, and continuous improvement, not from destroying your opponent's robot.

✅ No age restrictions
✅ Build a competition-ready robot for under $300
✅ Reuse your robot throughout the season

Monumental Impact will host regular intro sessions, support workshops, build guides, and reference designs to help new competitors get started, and you will have access to an online discussion community.

Competitions are planned throughout the Colorado Springs area from July through November 2026, culminating in a State Championship, with additional events expected in California, Idaho, Florida, and Texas.

📍 Join us this Saturday at our Palmer Lake location to learn more and see how you can get involved!

Last week, the Monumental Impact team attended the Silver Key Senior Summit, where we talked with more than 200 elder adults about our makerspace and the different ways people stay creative, keep learning, and try new things at every stage of life.

One question came up over and over again:

“What exactly is a makerspace?”

A makerspace is a shared community workshop where people come to build, learn, create, and work on projects together. As part of your membership, we provide the space, tools, and mentors, and you bring your creativity.

When you walk into Monumental Impact, you might see someone using a 3D printer to make a custom part, a group learning how to laser engrave wood, someone repairing electronics, or a grandparent and teen building a robotics project side by side.

It’s hands-on. It’s creative. And it’s for everyone!

We also now offer a new Introductory Membership, making it easy to explore the makerspace, meet the community, and see if membership is a good fit before fully committing.

Monumental Impact will be at the Silver Key Senior Services Summit this Thursday and Friday, and we hope you’ll stop by and say hello!

The Silver Key Senior Summit is an opportunity for elder adults to connect with the community, discover local resources, attend engaging sessions, enjoy activities, and learn more about programs that support aging well in the Pikes Peak Region.

We’re especially excited to attend the “Aging Well in the Pikes Peak Region” session on May 15 at 1:15 PM and hear from local leaders about exciting projects and opportunities supporting elder adults in our community.

At our booth, we’ll be sharing how Monumental Impact offers elder adults a place to continue learning, creating, and building in community. Our makerspace is a place where curiosity stays active and creativity keeps growing, whether you want to design and build practical projects, explore electronics or 3D printing, make gifts for friends and family, or simply try something new alongside supportive mentors and fellow makers.

A makerspace is part playground for your imagination and part gym for your brain, a place where ideas become real things.

If you’ve ever thought:

💡 “I’d love to learn something new.”
🔧 “I miss working with my hands.”
🧠 “I want to stay mentally active and connected.”
🤝 “I’d love to meet creative, curious people.”

…then Monumental Impact may be the place for you.

We also now offer a new Introductory Membership, making it easy to explore the makerspace, meet the community, and see if membership is a good fit before fully committing.

We hope to see you at the Summit!

From a blank board… to something you’ll only see in person.

What starts as stained wood becomes something entirely different—
⚙️ Precision-cut on our CNC
🔥 Detailed with laser engraving
🖨️ Custom elements brought to life with 3D printing
🧩 All layered together into a one-of-a-kind piece

This custom artwork was created as a collaboration between more than six of our community members—each bringing their own skills to the build.

We’re giving you a behind-the-scenes look—but not the final reveal.

To see the finished piece up close in person before the winning bidder takes it home, join us at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center Annual Awards Dinner & Auction.

Worth seeing up close.

🔧 Do you fix things… or throw them away?

Ben and Jonathan built our new Soldering & Electronics Workbench at Monumental Impact last month, and it’s already getting put to work.

This bench is perfect for:
🔍 Precision soldering
⚡ Testing circuits
🪛 Repairing electronics
🤖 Robotics projects
🔧 Tinkering with components

If you’ve got a drawer of “I’ll fix that someday” gadgets… this might be your bench. 😁

Our makerspace is membership-based, and new community members are welcome.

Our next round of equipment training starts in April, which is a great time to join and start building.
